Ultimate Minimalism Travel: 3 Weeks One Backpack WITH GEAR
One of my most frequently asked questions while traveling is how you fit everything in just one backpack. The truth is, it's not magic, but it does require some tricks. So I will gladly share them with you in this article; whether you're going on a more extended or more minor trip, or even if you're planning on traveling the world with just one backpack, here is everything that I packed with me, which is one backpack, plus gear plus, Next, I will be heading to another solo backpack trip for precisely three weeks, you've been following my articles, you know that one of the things that I truly appreciate in life, it's traveling and getting to know other cultures, I like to do it as often as my life allows it and as stress-free as possible.
So, one of the things minimalism has taught me over the years, and it's also something that everyone has heard, is that less is more. By reducing the amount of baggage, you're also adding more of what is truly important. So, while traveling, I prioritize these three things over material things. First of all, comfort when turning on the adventure mode. I want to jump around from place to place, and it usually requires walking and moving a lot. Itrolleys look more fashionable and are more practical on flat surfaces.
But the truth is that most of the time, this is different. It can also be a significant pain when it rains, walking down a street, or even facing stairs. So I chose a backpack. And this means that everything I decide to bring is weighing me down. So it is crucial only to carry essentials. And by this, I mean traveling as late as possible, being able to run around to catch some transportation mode if necessary. And she put my bag over to the cabin or under the seat on my own without breaking my back. If you only carry one backpack, you don't need to wait for the extra bag at the airport or even stress if it will show up.
Also, the less you pack, the less time you spend packing and unpacking. And this is also true during the trip if you're moving around from place to place, saving money. If you focus on the right things, you don't need to spend much money while traveling. The main reason I like traveling with just one backpack is That I'm always looking out for cheap flights that usually don't include the extra baggage, at least for free. You can save much money if you cut out this additional expense. I like to be intentional about my spending, and I either save the money I use for the extra bag or spend it on an experience that will enrich my life or food because food is life.
I like using Evernote to ensure I remember everything while packing. I have a pre-made travel list that I use every time. So whenever I load a new bag, I uncheck everything from the previous trip. So I can have a clean start regarding the actual list of things I'm bringing. I divided it into six categories: essentials, tech, comfort, hygiene, and health clothing. And in this case, beach.
Regarding my essentials, I bring my ID, credit card, wallet, actual money for emergencies, health insurance cards, safety locker, backpack, and water bottle. For years, I thought that water bottles were not allowed on airplanes. And this is entirely not true.
The only things you're not allowed to bring are liquids before and during a security check. So I usually get an empty bottle, and whenever I pass a security check, I go to the bathroom, fill it up with liquid water, and have water for my trip. This way, I save money and the environment because I don't need to buy extra black sick bottles everywhere I go. As the life item of the essentialist, I am bringing a carabiner, which I use to hold my water bottle on my backpack.
Regarding tech, I am bringing my GoPro, an extra battery, and a tripod. I'm also getting my camera, my 50-millimeter lens, my charger, my phone, and headphones. I also use them as earplugs at night, if necessary, in my digital watch. It's a charger, a power bank USBC fast charger, and this is not a business trip; otherwise, I will include my computer, which is not coming with me this time for comfort. I am bringing my blinder book, pen, and paper to draw and to put down my thoughts while traveling. Clothing so far: doing my laundry in between days, five cloth packs, two pieces of fruit, One sandwich, and one boiled egg for a trip regarding hygiene and health. I am bringing a toothbrush, toothpaste, cotton swabs, and floss.
Now, clipper plucker hairbrush. I'm bringing perfume in smaller containers. One is usually suitable for one week, and because I'm going for three weeks, I'm just going to fill up three small containers. I have also packed Arcade Drench solid shampoo so far for the body makeup remover when it comes to makeup. I am bringing concealer, mascara, blush, eyebrow pencil, red lipstick, aloe vera, and a bag to bring with me whenever I need bathroom essentials, such as bath towels. I will get ten new GI ones for the hair and one for the body.
And Novi is a Japanese cloth that is very lightweight and versatile. And I'm also going to use it as a beach towel. And because it's so light, I can wash it and let it dry, and more or less 30 minutes later, it's good to go. Besides that, I am bringing an EpiPen because I have some allergies and need to get that stuck with me wherever I go. And I'm also going to get some essential medicine. It will be tricky when it comes to clothing because I will be going over 750 kilometers from the South to the North during the change in the season. The weather is going to be unpredictable.
But what I'm going to bring is one pair of sneakers, six panties, one bra, six socks, one pair of leggings and an oversized T-shirt, which I'm going to wear as a pajama, one pair of flip-flops, two trousers, six chops, two long sleeves, two sweaters, one jacket, and two dresses, one long sleeve and one not. When it comes to accessories, I am physically going to bring everything I'll already be wearing. So one rain, the usual earrings I never take out to her, ties the digital watch I already mentioned, one hat, One Belt, One necklace, a pair of sunglasses, and a smaller bag.
I will remove these clothing items from all these because these are what I will wear during the trip. And last but not least, because I'm planning to go to the beach, I will bring my bikini and sunscreen. Okay, so now you have your list of things. But how do you fit everything in such a small space? I will give you nine lightning tips on how to pack your bag. First of all, roll up your clothing. This way, it takes up less space in your bag. Plus, you can see everything in one work to pack for six days, not six weeks. If your trip is more than six days, it doesn't matter how long; it's going to be just five or six days and do laundry in between if it's just a just-in-case item that costs under 20 euros.
Just leave it at home. You might think that this way, you will spend more money to buy those things. But chances are that you're not. I've been doing this for years. And how many times I went out of my way to buy it just in case item zero. Check the weather report, the activities you want before going, and those related to the previous trip. On this trip. It might rain, but I won't be bringing any rain jacket or umbrella, and knowing myself, I will probably find an excellent museum or indoor activity for that day.
Otherwise, if it's raining, I'll get a cheap, small umbrella if needed. Number five is where the items that take up more space during the trip are. Where are the items that take up more space in your bag on the way there and back here? Wearing more giant shoes or more giant sweaters? Make sure to wear that during the trip. Plus, it can also get a bit chilly during your flight. Take multipurpose items. For example, a USB charger can charge three different types of devices. So I'm only bringing one or a particular item of clothing with some imagination that can be worn differently. Choose a versatile wardrobe.
Minimalism doesn't have to look all black and white for everyone. But having a color palette that you can mix and match is a game changer. Don't put your water bottle inside your back, especially if it's complete and you're traveling by plane. It usually takes a lot of space, and you can get into trouble if the error company asks you to wait until you're back. So, use the Caribbean instead, or take it in your hands for extra points.
Last but not least, storage position matters. Of course, the most crucial part is what you will be bringing. But how you will get it in is also extremely important.
One tip is to keep the heavier things at the bottom and after the center of the bag. This way, the wave is more evenly distributed and easy to carry. Okay, that's it simple. You are ready to go on an adventure with just your backpack and focus on what truly matters. Let me know if it's something that you always bring during our trips that I have yet to mention.
I look forward to speaking with you in the comment section.
